Salute

Image
Veterans Day is time to salute and honor all those in the armed forces. I take this moment to say THANK YOU to all members of the military. Without you, we would not have the freedoms we now enjoy. Below you will find some photos taken at Bradford County Veterans Memorial Park. Brick at the memorial of my great uncle, Howard. Stalkers

Image
It's the time right now that farmers in the area are cutting down their corn stalks. Sometimes the stalks are left in groups or singles, and one day on my way to work I noticed a particularly amusing grouping. There were three stalks positioned in the back while one lonely stalk was in the front. It seemed to me that the back row could have been poking fun, joking on or stalking that one straggly corn stalk. I thought to myself, hmmm.... stalkers!! That play on words cracked me up. I decided I needed to try to capture this image in my head. Although, in my head they appeared as more of cartoon characters than real life corn stalks. I drove by the field numerous times taking note of lighting and positioning so that if I had a chance to photograph I could do it quickly. It was days away from my next availability to photo and I kept watch over them day by day. The day arrived and of course, it was raining!! The next day I drove by, the rain had knocked over my subjects. I kept watch

Sunflower Smiles

Image
There is something about sunflowers that make me smile inside. Maybe it's the bright yellow warmth they exude, maybe it's how large in life they seem to me, maybe it's because my mom is such a green thumb and hers look so beautiful, whatever the case is I do enjoy the presence of sunflowers. Bees also enjoy sunflowers. They can grow tall, have many great uses and growing them can be a fun filled activity for children.   Sunflowers inspire many, even famous artist, Vincent Van Gogh. One of my favorite sunflower photos is "Timid" shown below. You can visit Roba Family Orchard which has three acres and twenty five different varieties of sunflowers. You may even cut one to take home! Wash your car and visit a sunflower field in Elverson, PA. In Peconic, New York sample wine and explore a sunflower field. This place may need to be on my next adventure list. Try a farm experience at Sunflower Valley Farm complete with petting zoo, photo ops and mo

Running through a field of daisies

Image
Contrary to the post title, I was hardly running and there were no daisies. When I photograph and my entire being is in the photo zone (as I like to call it) I have that feeling associated with running through a field of daisies. You know that feeling, happiness, warmth around you, beauty in front of you and everything seems right with the world for a moment. That's how I feel when I am in the photo zone. Today I grabbed my camera and went out to capture the buttercups and other flowers around my mom's gorgeous landscaping extravaganza!! I am a complete brown thumb and can not grow a thing. Luckily my mom has a knack for keeping me in flowers to photograph. Here are a few of the buttercups. I love the clouds! As I stated my mom is a landscape queen. Here are a few of the flowers around the house. I'm throwing this photo in for fun just because I like this old metal wheelbarrow. On a side note there was one day recently where I drove

Foxy

Image
I have always felt that foxes were super cute, smart, furry little animals. I have seen them from a far and have witnessed their playful ways. The other day my mom,  husband and myself were out in Bradford County making our annual trip to Edsell's Greenhouse .  On the way home we spotted the cutest couple of foxes. We backed up and took a couple cell phone photos. One ran under a barn, but the other hid and came back. After a few moments it jumped back up in it's window spot in the sun. A few other vehicles drove by and slowed, some stopped and the fox finally went away. As we drove away I looked back and noticed the fox was back in the window seat. We returned home and unloaded our cache of flowers and veggies and I decided to grab my camera and see if the fox was still lounging in the sun. I was lucky and he was! We stopped and I hung out the window and snapped a couple shots. Then a truck came up behind us so we rolled on and the truck stopped and soaked in the cuteness
