Rusted

Image
The process and chemical breakdown of rust may seem complicated, but to me it's just visually appealing. I grabbed a few photographs of this Jeep before it was towed away to the scrap yard. The color and texture of this rusted Jeep FC-150 is what captured my creative eye. The flaking metal, the assorted colors of time breaking down it's shell, all made for great subject matter for me. My father was in the process of disassembling this Jeep. Ironically the WD-40 was setting on the back. Cherry Blossom Bust

Image
As long as I have held a camera in my hand I have wanted to go to Washington D.C. to view the cherry blossoms.  A few years ago my husband and I drove to Florida and on the way back we stopped in D.C. to try to get a glimpse (and a few photographs) of the beautiful blossoms... we were to early that year. So when I had the opportunity to catch a ride I jumped! Before meeting up with some friends, I popped into Beyond the Print to purchase a new, smaller camera pack as I wanted to travel light. I picked up an awesome Tamrac Expedition 3 ! This pack was perfect for the trip. This pack was comfortable, lightweight and carried all I needed/wanted. After leaving with my backpack all geared up, I met some friends and we drove to our destination. After arriving I was saddened to learn that I had (once again) missed "peak" viewing of the blossoms. I was determined to find something to photograph though. My friends and i decided to explore some and hopped the metro. As ...

Muscle Cars, Motorcycles and Brockways... Oh my!

Image
As we have established by one of my last posts, I'm a bit of a car girl. When I heard that the Northeast Classic Car Museum was having a special exhibit on muscle cars, I was in! I have been to the museum in the past and think it's a great place for a family trip. One thing I like about the museum is that along with the cars, they have models on display that are dressed up for that specific era. Friendly staff are on hand for any questions and signs have interesting info about the cars. As we wandered through the museum, hood ornaments were catching my eye. Cars used to (in my opinion) have a bit more character and personality than today's vehicles. The lines and shapes, the large round lights, fins and style options sure have changed.  Motorcycles were also a part of the special exhibit. Like this one made by aviation pioneer Glenn Curtiss . After spending a few hours at the museum we grabbed some lunch and headed to Cor...

Country Life

Image
There are times when I travel by a particular location and think "I have to photograph here someday." The following photos are part of that waiting, waiting for the right lighting or the inspirational muse to strike me. There has been some logging happening near my home. Everyday to work I drive by this pile of logs with big equipment parked in this field. Everyday for the past few weeks I have been thinking "I have to photograph this!" Tonight while returning home the right moment, the right inspiration, the right light.... All of these photos were taken on my  Samsung Galaxy Note 4 . It's a good thing I stopped tonight, as when I drove down my road to my house a log truck backed up and began loading the logs!
