Trying to navigate through emotions can be quite the ordeal. Some days are hard, others harder. We all are battling thoughts each and every day. I have always found that writing and journaling are helpful. At times I abandoned these things as life gets busy. I have decided to share some of my thoughts as of recent. Maybe you are steering your boat through rough waters too. We can paddle this thing together. What helps you when you need a break from the world? Whatever it is, be sure to find time to do it. Today, find one thing that makes you happy and brings you joy. Then do it. Have you ever met a troll? Trip trop, trip trop... who remembers that childhood book? The book I am referencing is called The Three Billy Goats Gruff. I read that in elementary school. Anyone else? This summer I had an opportunity to actually meet a troll, designed and built by artist Thomas Dambo. I had heard about these trolls from friends and when I discovered they would be at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake I knew I had to go. I planned a long weekend and drove on a Friday through gorgeous scenery. We were in the vicinity prior to check in so exploring the area was a wonderful way to pass time. Our first stop was at Flander's Park. It was quite windy that day as we strolled down the well maintained walkways. There were activities along the way for all ages, playgrounds, and places to relax. On an early morning in 1998, after working a second shift, I went about my routine of grabbing some food and unwinding while watching some TV. Around 1am I came across a softball game on one of the ESPN platforms. As the game finished up, they announced that the championship series would be the following weekend in Durham, NC. The next morning I called a friend to see if she wanted to road trip to North Carolina for the weekend. We planned a whirlwind mini vacation and went to see the championship games. Some teams that were involved were the Orlando Wahoos, Durham Dragons and the Virginia Roadsters. At the championship game they were tossing out trading cards to the fans. I was lucky enough to snag a pack!! There was a lot of great softball being played over that weekend.
