Adventures with Amey

Image
It's no surprise that I'm a big fan of random photo days. When fellow photo enthusiast (and my cousin,) Amey, texted me and asked if I wanted to go try to find some owls... of course I was all in! We were up early and on the road to see what we could see. Unfortunately, no owls were spotted. We traveled along the back roads and pulled off when the moment struck. Ending up at Mount Pisgah was a pleasant surprise. I hadn't been there in ages! I was amazed to see people out on the lake fishing. It sure hasn't seemed cold enough to me to try my luck out on the ice! Not that I fish anyway. Along our adventure down some back roads we spotted some beautiful horses at Harper's Fairview Farm . We chatted with Pam and those photos may end up somewhere in the near future. The journey continued with a stop at Turnpike Cemetery and a farm with Scottish Bulls . We ended our day with some much needed nourishment from Leroy's and some great conversation. Here's a few...

18 degrees

Image
I awoke this morning and checked the thermometer.... 18 degrees! I debated on whether to take my sweet, little princess for a walk. She loves to go for walks and I quite enjoy the time outside with her. So we bundled up and went for a walk. On the return journey I noticed in the ditch some very cool ice formations. Naturally, I went back to grab my camera and take some photos. Eighteen degrees is not very warm on the exposed fingers, but when I'm in photo mode I sometimes don't notice. I had my camera eye on and climbed down in the ditch trying not to drop my camera in the cold, cold water. After realizing my foot seemed a little cold, I looked down and noticed I was standing in the water. This is when I figured I would head back and see what I ended up with. I also noticed a cardinal! Sometimes photography is for the birds!!! I loved the swirling bubbles! This image I inverted the colors. These ice particles are the same as the ones above. I snapped a ...

Wyalusing Rocks

Image
Nestled along Route 6 is a beautiful place some of you may know of as The Rocks. My camera and I spent a little bit of time at the Wyalusing Rocks capturing the gorgeous fall scenery. Growing up in the area I knew this scenic spot to be a hang out with friends to chat, others may know of this as a historic stop along the Route 6 drive. The majestic beauty can not be denied. I have put together a special boxed set of cards now available on my Etsy shop.

Merry Mossmas

Image
There is this location that I travel by often and every time I pass I think I must stop and photograph. Since the days have been so mild this December I finally took my camera and spent some time! I have this attraction to moss. The lush green color, the texture and how it grows from anywhere. Add an old tire and a cool looking tree and you get the photos below. This tree reminded me of a book I read as a kid.  If you are interested in any of these images as prints contact me or check out my Etsy Shop. May you all have a Merry Christmas (snow or moss)

Feeling a bit spoiled

Image
As the holidays are quickly approaching, it's hard not to get caught up in the Christmas atmosphere. I must confess, however that I always get spoiled! I am fortunate to have what I need and during the holidays would much rather give than receive. I am grateful for all of the love and support that surrounds me and really need nothing more. This is the time when I try to do the little things like donate blood to the American Red Cross or donate my hair (which I'm about ready to do again) or grab a name off a tree and purchase gifts for a child. It's no secret, however, that Santa has always been good to me. This year is no exception. As I have been delving deeper and deeper into my photography passion, I see more and more gear I would like to obtain. A lighting kit will show up under my tree this year! Due to the fact that I wanted to check to see that the kit was all in tact and in tip top shape, I set up a little photo shoot. I will share some of my fav...

Chores left undone

Image
I often wonder why on my days off nothing gets done... then I think back on the day and how it unfolds and I realize. The morning starts out productive enough. Austin and I go for a morning walk. After returning and having a bit of breakfast I am motivated to start my chores. I collect the garbage and take it out. On the way back in I notice how beautiful the light is shining through the leaves. I stop and admire... then I run inside and grab my camera, naturally! I snap a few photos and then decide I need to look at them right now. As I'm looking through the photos, I decide to edit a few... then all. I soon realize my lens is dirty! After chatting with a few friends and calling B&C Photo in Elmira, I hit the road to get my camera there before they close. They cleaned my camera for me as I waited, and I was back in business! I absolutely love the texture and lighting of the leaves above! I now have a clean len...
