This is an all skate!

Image
How many of you have the childhood/teenage memories of endless laps around the skating rink, sharing a slushy with your bestie or childhood sweetheart? I do! When I heard about an adult 80's skate at  Bonin's Roller Rink , I had to go! I was able to pull together an outfit consisting of my vintage  Poison T-shirt , some acid-washed jeans, Prom Promise hat,  Umbro jacket , and  Kangaroo sneakers  (anyone else get your lunch money stuck in the pocket?) and was off to the rink! Stepping through the doors was like being transported back in time. Not much had changed. There were video games to play and the disco ball was lit! I found myself sitting back and smiling as an older couple glided around the rink holding hands, effortless in their rhythm. It was heart warming and I thought, life goals! Maybe not to be skating with my husband, but just to be happy in each other's company... doing something we enjoy! May we all have that connection with someone at some point in our lives

Coffee showdown

Image
I visited my favorite place to get work done,  The Cup  and decided to try something new. I have found a new appreciation for coffee. Generally, I am a tea drinker. I love my chai. So I decided to have the friendly staff make a pick for me. I was given two options and I could not decide... so I took a small cup of both. White chocolate and maple were the staff picks. I sampled the maple first. The aroma transported me back to the season of maple syrup making with my dad. Feel good nostalgia!! I then took a sample of the white chocolate and this was a shot of the warm festive feel goods! The friendly gals at the Cup asked which was my favorite... and are awaiting an answer, I am sure.  I sipped one, then the other. Thinking maple was my favorite... then the white chocolate. I could not make up my mind. It was like comparing apples and oranges.  The maple coffee is a hearty, full coffee flavor, rugged! The white chocolate is a smooth, refreshing bit of winter warmth.  They both get my th

Van Gogh-ing

When I first heard about the  Van Gogh exhibit , I was immediately interested. I conversed with friends and we decided to watch the locations to see when it would be nearest all of us. A year or so out from the original release date, a listing showed up for  Philadelphia . We immediately ordered tickets.  When the day arrived we packed up and started the trek to Philly. We began our adventure picking up a friend and having lunch at his house. Quinoa and veggies! After filling our bellies, we headed to meet another friend at  The Philadelphia Museum of Art.  We wandered the halls and checked out paintings by Van Gogh and others. As the museum was nearing a close for the day, we noticed a lot of hustle and bustle with tables and flowers. A wedding was going to happen that evening. Can you imagine using that beautiful space for a wedding??? Amazing!  We wandered around the outside of the building (as the exit to the Rocky stairs was closed). We wanted to run up the steps.... who are we ki

Trail Walking and Cafe' Hopping

Image
It was a brisk November morning when I swung into  Salt and Light Cafe  for the first time. I ordered a caramel macchiato and was on my way out to walk a trail.  There is something about cafe's that draw me in.  Atmosphere, tasty goodies and awesome people can often be found in these creative hubs! I love all the afore mentioned! The warmth of the macchiato was just the motivation I needed to begin my journey on the  Carantouan Greenway .  Caramel macchiato on a fall day! If that wasn't inspiration enough, the trail markers along the way offered more! I sipped my warm beverage and meandered the trail saying hi and good morning to passers-by and their furry companions. The colors and textures of the morning were jumping into my senses and the river was high. Hey Dude! As I neared the bridge I noticed on the railing a book for all to read. Thanks  to author Maureen Wright  for this very literary treat! The view from the bridge was breath taking! I logged about 6,000 steps and 2.
