Shining, Sparklilng Wonderland

When I awoke this morning everything was glistening! It was a winter wonderland of sorts. Freezing rain had blanketed the area during the overnight hours. Ice had formed every where. I stepped out the back door to take the dogs out and witnessed pure beauty in the sunrise lighting up the ice all around. I ran to grab my camera and began shooting. Everything around me faded. I wasn't concerned that I didn't have my coat. My passion for photography at that moment was warming me from the inside. Nor did I think about having to leave for work early due to icy road conditions. I was engrossed in the warm tones the sunrise was emitting and the sparkling, shimmering ground and trees. Enamored by what lie before me, I was totally absorbed in the sun rising, peaking light through the trees. Such beauty! I now share some photos from my morning wonderland. Enjoy!

No Bluffing

This isn't the begginning of post about April Fool's day. That's no bluffing. On a random nice Saturday in March a road trip was in order. The sun was shining, I collected some good company and hit the streets. Driving a couple hours, we landed at Chimney Bluffs State Park and were ready for adventure. Being March and having rained, we figured the trails would be a little bit muddy... Some places were like little ponds while others looked like a flat out obstacle course for trucks and ATV's. We tried our best to navigate around the muddy spots, but part way through, it was realized to be a lost cause. My sneakers are still covered in mud. The view, would be worth it. Passing mile markers and friendly hikers with their furry friends enjoying the fresh air, the view unfolded!! The clouds were moody at times, beautiful always. Bluebrids, Swallows and Strawberries

Bluebirds make me smile. I love the bright coloring of their feathers. Today I decided it had been way to long since having my camera out. My mission: capturing the bluebirds. We have a house they frequent. I have been keeping watch to see what times may be best to photograph. I was up early and snuck out the back door with Austin (my rescue dog of about 12 years) hoping to catch a glimmer of blue. A glimmer is about all I caught! Those cute little creatures are fast! They were going about their daily routine of feedings. One bird was hunting, while the other was patiently waiting for the food to return. When the other returned, there was a transfer of breakfast from one beak to the other. Then the process began again. They were uncertain of my presence and I, at times, got an evil eye... or maybe it was a curious one. The challenge was focusing on them. I have gleaned knowledge from other photographers to focus on an eye... easier said then done!! ...

The Art of Listening

 By definition according to Britannica Dictionary "art" is "   something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings ." Listening is a skill in my opinion. One which takes practice. Have you ever been in conversation with someone and not given them your full attention? It happens. More often  than  we hope, I am sure. Our minds are so full at times, that it is hard to focus on conversation. Truly hearing someone is one of the best gifts to be given.  Opening up to someone allows for vulnerability. That is a hard truth. When someone trusts enough to do so, it can be heart breaking if the  receiving end is not open to listening/hearing. I was once told don't ask someone how they are doing if you are not prepared to listen to their answer. I have carried this with me for some time and I genuinely strive for that philosophy.
