Shining, Sparklilng Wonderland

Image
When I awoke this morning everything was glistening! It was a winter wonderland of sorts. Freezing rain had blanketed the area during the overnight hours. Ice had formed every where. I stepped out the back door to take the dogs out and witnessed pure beauty in the sunrise lighting up the ice all around. I ran to grab my camera and began shooting. Everything around me faded. I wasn't concerned that I didn't have my coat. My passion for photography at that moment was warming me from the inside. Nor did I think about having to leave for work early due to icy road conditions. I was engrossed in the warm tones the sunrise was emitting and the sparkling, shimmering ground and trees. Enamored by what lie before me, I was totally absorbed in the sun rising, peaking light through the trees. Such beauty! I now share some photos from my morning wonderland. Enjoy! This shot is my absolute favorite. I love the tones and the texture! Stay connected Follow

Snowy Owl

Image
I received a text a few days ago asking if I wanted to go see the snowy owl. I was unfortunately at work and didn't get to go that day, but after seeing all the hub bub surfacing on social media I decided I would take a trek to the farm in Bradford County where it was spotted. I packed up my gear and dressed for being outside in eighteen degree weather. I arrived on the road and noticed a pick up in traffic on the rural road so I knew I was getting close. I pulled up behind a truck and saw a massive lens sticking out of the window. Window down, I stared out into the field trying to spot the owl. A couple older ladies drove by and informed us to drive up the road a bit farther and stop where all the other vehicles were lined up. Many photographers and bird watchers enjoying the view. I soon realized the gear I was toting was not comparable to get any real photos. Me having a serious case of lens envy!!  I did spot the owl and here are a couple photos with my very smal

Night Eyes

I have been a fan of stargazing for quite some time. A member of the astronomy club (secret is now out, I'm officially a nerd) in high school, I spent some time trying to educate myself about constellations. It wasn't only the science involved, but just the experience of laying out in the cool, summer breeze looking for the formations I read about and studied in my club. I found that the winter time had many a clear night for star viewing. Tonight on this first day of January, I noticed the sliver shaped moon and a bright  planet. I decided to bundle up and go out to try some more night photography. Why not start the year off with dabbling in new techniques. I went out, set up my tripod and gear and realized I had forgotten my  remote. By the time I ran in and picked up my remote and ran back out the moon had dropped behind some trees and I no longer had the view I wanted to photograph. Since I was already out there in the cold with this beautiful sky above me, I snapped a
