A softball State of mind

Image
A weekend ago a couple friends and I hopped in their truck and decided to drive to Happy Valley. Our destination, a Penn State softball game. I mean, how could you not be happy going to watch a Big 10 softball match up on a beautiful sunny day. We arrived on the campus, and I first noticed the aftermath of the Blue and White game. All of the grassy areas showed the effect of the many who were there the day before watching Penn State Football. After driving around a bit we finally found a spot to park and we were ready to enjoy the sun and a game. The Lady Lions were gearing up to sweep the series against  Rutgers. PSU had taken the first two games of the series, but a couple of miscues would see the end result with Rutgers on top for the last game of the bout.  Penn State Softball Rutgers Softball Big 10 Softball NCAA Softball National Pro Fastpitch Softball Follow me on Facebook Visit my photography online

Eventful

Recently I had the opportunity to photograph an event at Glen Park Vineyards in Owego, New York. This winery not only has wine to suit your palette, but is full of rustic, warm and cozy charm. I won't be to verbose in this blog, but I will leave you with some photos and you will quickly get a feel of the great environment provided by owners Fred and Chris. I recommend the wine and the venue. *This blog has not been endorsed by the Vineyard and is completely the opinion of me (photographer and wine taster)* Glen Park Vineyards Follow Glen Park on Facebook Follw me on Facebook Visit my photo site Visit my Etsy shop

A Day at the Museum

Image
A year ago I accidentally landed myself at The Smithsonian where I first encountered the Nature's Best Photography exhibit. It was a cold, snowy day and our outside activities forced us inside for a bit. It was a blessing! We had limited time and due to the inclement weather, many were browsing through. So we hurried through and I grabbed some of the books at the gift store to look more closely at later. I vowed I would return with more time to study these brilliant works of art. I was ecstatic when I heard this same exhibit was coming to The Roberson Museum . I anxiously awaited my day to make it, and when I did I was not let down! I dragged my husband and took my time reading every bit of info and watching the short movie playing. If you are a photography enthusiast, a nature lover or enjoying browsing museums you should check this exhibit out! Kudos to the Roberson for bringing this caliber of work to our community! While we were there we also toured the model trains and t...

Shining, Sparklilng Wonderland

Image
When I awoke this morning everything was glistening! It was a winter wonderland of sorts. Freezing rain had blanketed the area during the overnight hours. Ice had formed every where. I stepped out the back door to take the dogs out and witnessed pure beauty in the sunrise lighting up the ice all around. I ran to grab my camera and began shooting. Everything around me faded. I wasn't concerned that I didn't have my coat. My passion for photography at that moment was warming me from the inside. Nor did I think about having to leave for work early due to icy road conditions. I was engrossed in the warm tones the sunrise was emitting and the sparkling, shimmering ground and trees. Enamored by what lie before me, I was totally absorbed in the sun rising, peaking light through the trees. Such beauty! I now share some photos from my morning wonderland. Enjoy! This shot is my absolute favorite. I love the tones and the texture! Stay connected Follow ...

Snowy Owl

Image
I received a text a few days ago asking if I wanted to go see the snowy owl. I was unfortunately at work and didn't get to go that day, but after seeing all the hub bub surfacing on social media I decided I would take a trek to the farm in Bradford County where it was spotted. I packed up my gear and dressed for being outside in eighteen degree weather. I arrived on the road and noticed a pick up in traffic on the rural road so I knew I was getting close. I pulled up behind a truck and saw a massive lens sticking out of the window. Window down, I stared out into the field trying to spot the owl. A couple older ladies drove by and informed us to drive up the road a bit farther and stop where all the other vehicles were lined up. Many photographers and bird watchers enjoying the view. I soon realized the gear I was toting was not comparable to get any real photos. Me having a serious case of lens envy!!  I did spot the owl and here are a couple photos with my very smal...

Night Eyes

Image
I have been a fan of stargazing for quite some time. A member of the astronomy club (secret is now out, I'm officially a nerd) in high school, I spent some time trying to educate myself about constellations. It wasn't only the science involved, but just the experience of laying out in the cool, summer breeze looking for the formations I read about and studied in my club. I found that the winter time had many a clear night for star viewing. Tonight on this first day of January, I noticed the sliver shaped moon and a bright  planet. I decided to bundle up and go out to try some more night photography. Why not start the year off with dabbling in new techniques. I went out, set up my tripod and gear and realized I had forgotten my  remote. By the time I ran in and picked up my remote and ran back out the moon had dropped behind some trees and I no longer had the view I wanted to photograph. Since I was already out there in the cold with this beautiful sky above me, I snapped ...

Kitchen sink ice

Image
It's been quite some time since I have shared some eye candy and I do apologize for that. Life can get busy at times, I'm sure you all understand. That being said I have been trying to get into the festive holiday spirit. Tree and decorations have been spread around the living quarters with care, and I have been taking note of the beauty in it all. As I walked through the kitchen I noticed how the outside holiday lights were back-lighting the ice formations in the window. I don't think I did them justice but here are some shots of those formations along with some cuteness.
