Postcard Project

 I enjoy sending mail. A few years ago, when the world shut down, I began sending postcards as a way to let people know that I was thinking of them. To send them a little bit of positivity in a crazy situation. I had bins of photos (literally thousands) and I began making them into postcards and pairing those with inspirational quotes. I wanted these to be a beacon of light. When my supplies ran out (it took 3 years for that to happen) I began to order more supplies to keep the mail sprinklings going, my mailing list grew. 

I have decided to publish a book based on my postcards. Over the last month I have been working on this and it is nearing completion. Cover reveal will be coming soon!!!

The idea has been in my thoughts for a few years, but I have now decided to make it happen. I have learned a new program (InDesign by Adobe) that has been fun to work with on a design level. I am excited to be able to share, in a book form, these images which I have paired with some of my poetry (both new and old writings) 

I believe sending these tidbits of love leave lasting impressions and hopefully some healing energy to those who read them.

No Bluffing

This isn't the begginning of post about April Fool's day. That's no bluffing. On a random nice Saturday in March a road trip was in order. The sun was shining, I collected some good company and hit the streets. Driving a couple hours, we landed at Chimney Bluffs State Park and were ready for adventure. Being March and having rained, we figured the trails would be a little bit muddy... Some places were like little ponds while others looked like a flat out obstacle course for trucks and ATV's. We tried our best to navigate around the muddy spots, but part way through, it was realized to be a lost cause. My sneakers are still covered in mud. The view, would be worth it. Passing mile markers and friendly hikers with their furry friends enjoying the fresh air, the view unfolded!! The clouds were moody at times, beautiful always. Bluebrids, Swallows and Strawberries

Bluebirds make me smile. I love the bright coloring of their feathers. Today I decided it had been way to long since having my camera out. My mission: capturing the bluebirds. We have a house they frequent. I have been keeping watch to see what times may be best to photograph. I was up early and snuck out the back door with Austin (my rescue dog of about 12 years) hoping to catch a glimmer of blue. A glimmer is about all I caught! Those cute little creatures are fast! They were going about their daily routine of feedings. One bird was hunting, while the other was patiently waiting for the food to return. When the other returned, there was a transfer of breakfast from one beak to the other. Then the process began again. They were uncertain of my presence and I, at times, got an evil eye... or maybe it was a curious one. The challenge was focusing on them. The Art of Listening

 By definition according to Britannica Dictionary "art" is "   something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings ." Listening is a skill in my opinion. One which takes practice. Have you ever been in conversation with someone and not given them your full attention? It happens. More often  than  we hope, I am sure. Our minds are so full at times, that it is hard to focus on conversation. Truly hearing someone is one of the best gifts to be given.  Opening up to someone allows for vulnerability. That is a hard truth. When someone trusts enough to do so, it can be heart breaking if the  receiving end is not open to listening/hearing. I was once told don't ask someone how they are doing if you are not prepared to listen to their answer. I have carried this with me for some time and I genuinely strive for that philosophy.
