Merry Mossmas

Image
There is this location that I travel by often and every time I pass I think I must stop and photograph. Since the days have been so mild this December I finally took my camera and spent some time! I have this attraction to moss. The lush green color, the texture and how it grows from anywhere. Add an old tire and a cool looking tree and you get the photos below. This tree reminded me of a book I read as a kid.  If you are interested in any of these images as prints contact me or check out my Etsy Shop. May you all have a Merry Christmas (snow or moss)

Feeling a bit spoiled

Image
As the holidays are quickly approaching, it's hard not to get caught up in the Christmas atmosphere. I must confess, however that I always get spoiled! I am fortunate to have what I need and during the holidays would much rather give than receive. I am grateful for all of the love and support that surrounds me and really need nothing more. This is the time when I try to do the little things like donate blood to the American Red Cross or donate my hair (which I'm about ready to do again) or grab a name off a tree and purchase gifts for a child. It's no secret, however, that Santa has always been good to me. This year is no exception. As I have been delving deeper and deeper into my photography passion, I see more and more gear I would like to obtain. A lighting kit will show up under my tree this year! Due to the fact that I wanted to check to see that the kit was all in tact and in tip top shape, I set up a little photo shoot. I will share some of my fav

Chores left undone

I often wonder why on my days off nothing gets done... then I think back on the day and how it unfolds and I realize. The morning starts out productive enough. Austin and I go for a morning walk. After returning and having a bit of breakfast I am motivated to start my chores. I collect the garbage and take it out. On the way back in I notice how beautiful the light is shining through the leaves. I stop and admire... then I run inside and grab my camera, naturally! I snap a few photos and then decide I need to look at them right now. As I'm looking through the photos, I decide to edit a few... then all. I soon realize my lens is dirty! After chatting with a few friends and calling B&C Photo in Elmira, I hit the road to get my camera there before they close. They cleaned my camera for me as I waited, and I was back in business! I absolutely love the texture and lighting of the leaves above! I now have a clean len

The Morning Walk

Image
I was surprised to see some white stuff coating the ground when I awoke this morning. So, I grabbed my phone when I walked out the door with my dog Austin. All the below photos were taken with my Samsung Galaxy Note 4 with some tweaking all done under the phone adjustments. This is the original shot Shot with some adjustments to contrast, hue and temperature. One of the original truck shots.                             One of the original truck shots. Color and contrast adjustments. With the stardust effect. Sepia. With adjustments to temperature, hue and contrast. With a light flare.

Art, Butterflies and a Tiny House

I always welcome a good, random road trip. When a friend of mine contacted me and asked if I wanted to go to Boston, the reply was a quick yes. After figuring out scheduling and making the arrangements, the trip was on. We headed out on a Friday after work and arrived in Boston very early in the morning Saturday. The view from the hotel was amazing! Seeing the view from the top floor who could sleep?? I was busy hanging my camera out of the window to get this shot!! After a few hours sleep we grabbed some food and were off to start our day of fun in Boston. The first stop was The Museum of Fine Art . I was thrilled to see a piece by Dale Chihuly. The museum had this fun photo op spot! It made me smile as I stepped in for a pic and just like that I became a part of the painting. After spending a few hours looking at art and grabbing some food at the cafe we ventured over to Walden Pond to check out where Henry Dav

Some gave all

On this day I take a moment to thank those service men and women (and their families) for all of their sacrifices. Not long ago I stopped in at the Bradford County Veterans Memorial Park and figured now is a good time to share a couple photos. When my mom and grandma recently visited they brought back these etchings to show me. My grandfather and uncles proudly served.

Brrrrisk

Image
I quite enjoy fall (not so much what comes after) so this morning I decided Austin and I would go for a walk. The air was crisp and the aroma of our wood stove floated about. The leaves crunched under our feet. The bright colors of weeks past were coated in white frost. Thermometer pointing out it's a brisk 23 degrees on this October morning. Frost glistened on the leaves and fog rolled from the lake. It was a beautiful, brisk morning walk!
