Wild Goose Chase

A road trip with one of my favorite fellow photographers formulated a couple weekends ago when she texted me and said hey, do you want to drive a couple hours and see 20,000 geese? I am not nearly the birder that she is, but anything with photography will do in my eyes! I have actually just acquired some new gear and was itching to give it a try. So, we loaded up gear and met in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania.

After grabbing some goodies for the road we were on our way!! The maple Snickers was DELICIOUS!
We arrived at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area and were ready to photograph!!
Grabbing our gear and setting off to see what we would discover, I was surprised by the amount of dogs on the trails. I thought with all the birds this would not be allowed. Awesomely enough, this place is dog friendly as long as on a leash!

This little cutie was one of many doggies on the trails.

It wasn't long before we were hearing and seeing tundra swan, snow geese and other subjects to photograph. I was amazed at how large the tundra swan is and decided if I was up close it probably could take me down. I am not stating that these are aggressive birds at all (I am not a birder, nor do I have knowledge of such bird personalities) I am purely in awe of their size of weighing in at 13 pounds for a female and 16 pounds for a male.

Along the trails I gave my new gear a pretty good workout and below are some of my favorite photos of the day.

Many photographers and birders enjoy this location.

On the way home we stopped for food and a bit of relaxing after hauling gear around.

Had a nice cup of tea at this joint!
